Poland

Despite its central Europe location and European Union member status, to the surprise of many, Poland does not use the Euro as its currency. Instead, the country of nearly 40 million has its own currency known as the zloty. And while your UK credit card and bank card are likely to be accepted at most establishments, restaurants and larger retailers, the preferred method of payment in smaller shops and cafes is typically going to be cash. Make sure you’ve exchanged your pounds for zlotys before flying over and enjoying all that Poland’s lovely and charismatic cities have to offer.

TIP: If you do need to use a cash machine while in Poland, always choose the option to be billed in PLN and not in pounds.
